I was pissed off at myself so, instead of going home, I hung out in Panera, drank a lemonade and waited for people to pose for me. Sure fire way to flip the “mood switch”.

The plan for Thursday was for the NYC Urban Sketchers to meet inside the gate at the Central Park Conservancy Gardens and that’s where we were. We scattered, some left and some right, but then the Park Ranger (?) blew her whistle and everyone in the gardens were told to leave. The gate was locked and a “closed” sign was affixed to it. ???? Rumor going around was that there was a gas leak. ????

We walked the equivalent of a short block north and entered Central Park and sat alongside a lake – Harlem Meer – and sketched.

I was tired of all the trees and it was time for lunch but she was in the zone again. A small hairy dog ran into the lake and just plopped itself down and contentedly looked around with a very “pleased with itself” expression. Not swimming or walking – just plopped down.   After quite awhile it left the water and started burrowing into some sand lakeside, making a burrow, wallowing in it, what fun this dog was having. I went off to have lunch with Nora and Jane and later was told that the dog finally left with its owner.

After lunch in the Museum Of The City Of New York’s cafe, a few blocks south, we rejoined the group. They were strung out in a line happily sketching.

Amy was painting with the World’s Smallest Paintbrush and totally unaware of me.

Donna is my favorite model at Figure al Fresco.

Not all my sketches were good. I discarded quite a few.

But even when I’m screwing things up and can’t quite “get it” I enjoy drawing her.

It didn’t occur to me to sketch the sketchers. When the 20 minute post was too long for me I just switched apps and drew her again.
