We went to see the auction preview of 19th & 20th Century Prints & Drawings at Swann Auction Galleries the other week. There was a vitrine, in which gorgeous Chagall drawings were displayed, I rested my sketchbook on it and copied parts of a Picasso print “over there”. I expected to be chased away but these auction houses are very gentle towards us sketchers who are obviously not wealthy potential bidders.

I had time to kill between my appointment and meeting up with Shirley and Sylvie so I went to the public space on Madison Avenue and 56th Street. Blurry people concentrating on their breakfasts, conversations, newspapers made unsuspecting models.
