Last evening I attended “A Celebration of Visual Art” an art exhibit and reception presented by The Osler Society of the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and discovered my art had won Second Place. Below are the two monotypes. You all have seen them before and I’m sure you remember.

Monotype; Arches printmaking paper; oil based printing ink; etching press. Referred to iPad sketches made while in Penn Station waiting for a train home.

The three of us had a nice leisurely lunch in Panera on 23rd Street. Seating was upstairs, our food was brought to us, there were a sufficient number of other people and nobody bothered us. I was happy.

She didn’t have a clue I was right next to her. Totally focused.

We were at the pre-auction viewing of “19th & 20th Century Prints and Drawings”. These people were examining prints. I think they were employees of the gallery/auction house or maybe students/interns. Very intense – which was good for me.

I waited in the coffee shop for Shirley and Eunice. Not in the mood for coffee (!) I opted for hot chocolate. “Whipped cream?” Asked the barista. “Sure”, adventurous me responded. I settled at a very tiny table, took out my sketchbook and made a discovery. I had no idea how to drink the whipped cream topped hot chocolate. After wiping the sweet white stuff off the tip of my nose an embarrassing number of times I sketched the people who were politely not looking at me.
