Because our stomachs were growling so much we hot-footed it to our next stop – The Met. Priorities in place we made a beeline for the cafeteria, ate and learned Some Very Interesting Things. Fully sated – stomachs and heads filled to overflowing – we entered the Seurat exhibition and spent quite a long time examining his extraordinary circus drawings. I noticed a large mural covering an entire wall depicting very morose life-size saltimbanques painted by Fernand Pelez. I was immediately consumed with wanting to copy everything – a futile idea – I satisfied myself instead with one of the musicians, a member of “Orchestre Francais”.
