I walked up to The Met after my appointment last month and wandered around the Max Beckmann exhibit. There are many of his paintings that I want to copy, especially one that I stood in front of for a long time, but the mojo wasn’t with me at that moment so I left the gallery and continued my wandering. Soon I found myself in front of this portrait and the mojo was back, poking my arm and being a general pest. I didn’t even move when a docent, leading a large group, stopped in front of this painting and started her spiel. I turned off my iPod music and listened as I drew.
