When I was at The Met Breuer the other day I saw Klee’s ink transfer paintings and was reminded of the technique. While at the Salmagundi Club I decided to try my hand at this. Of course, his are beautifully finished with the addition of watercolor and mine are just baby steps, but, who knows what might happen.

A piece of thin Japanese printmaking paper was placed onto an inked copper plate and, with a ball point pen that no longer had ink, I drew (referring to an iPad sketch I made from direct observation) on the back of the Japanese paper. This was the resultant transfer monotype.
