A couple of weeks ago there was a “tree” theme for the NYC Urban Sketchers Sunday outing. First stop was W163rd Street and St. Nicholas Avenue where, next to a nondescript apartment building, the Dinosaur resides. This is a giant tree, 110′ tall, under which George Washington supposedly stood. I sat under it and sketched the scene across the street while the other sketchers drew the tree which is so big they didn’t even notice me.

Drawn and colored on location.
Moleskine journal; background Gelli Plate printed with acrylic; mechanical pencil, Sharpie Ultra Fine pen, Pitt brush pens.
