He got up and walked away.

ArtRage app, Pogo Sketch stylus; wrong-handed still (proper hand is fine but this is what I’m doing for now).

I don’t care.  I drew this image a couple of years ago in my journal (pen and paper) while at MOMA with the gang, and visitors Gwen and Phil.  That following August I used it in a silkscreen monotype. Then, this past October, I did a composite Matisse/Cezanne after my visit to The Barnes in Philadelphia.  I’ve blogged all of them.

Today Shirley, Benedicte, Teri and I went to the members’ preview of “Matisse:  In Search Of True Painting” at the Met. Very very nice exhibition.  After examining every painting and drawing we scattered and selected artwork to copy.  I settled on a bench, took out iPat and the stylus, and copied one of my favorites using the wrong hand, digital pencil and digital watercolor.  I felt completely at home.

Then we headed to the George Bellows exhibition.  WOW!!!  His painting of light knocked me off my feet.  I was immediately transported INTO these paintings – all of them.  I have never experienced this before.  Like I said, WOW!!!  After lunch in the museum we stopped in at “African Art, New York, and the Avant-Garde”.  By this time I was totally whipped, and, even though Benedicte dangled the notion of Pad Thai for dinner, I didn’t have an ounce of oomph left and headed for the bus to Penn Station instead.

ArtRage app, Pogo Sketch Stylus – still wrong handed.

Photo

I gave my wrong hand 45 minutes to do this – that’s how much time was left until the sun would be too low on the horizon for me to be in the park. That fat black charcoal was the tool already in the toolbox so I just went with it and didn’t bother to readjust the size downward. There was no time for fancy funny business (I don’t consider working in layers as doing fancy stuff – just business as usual) and I didn’t notice the certain lopsided-ness until I got home. Oh well. It’s perplexing me how easy these other hand drawings are to do this month. In the beginning the correct hand would try to get hold of the stylus. I had to keep beating it back. Now it just lays (lies?) submissively in my lap hoping to get an invitation. **

It was such a beautiful day. I went to the park about 2:30 for a nice long walk. In the trunk of my car was my backpack containing iPat, journal, pens and a novel. The plan was that I would sit in the car after I exhausted myself and draw nature wrong handedly. I finished an extra large Dunkin’ just before heading out so the limiting factor to this plan was whether or not there was an unlocked ladies room. Extra large coffee. Just sayin’. —
I had a thought: since I can’t seem to draw nature with the correct hand maybe the confusion in my brain, caused by drawing with the other one, would cancel out all the nature mishmash in front of my eyes. Sounds reasonable, right? Didn’t work one iota.

Instead I gave in to playing around with the image. When I looked up and noticed the sun had almost set I hightailed it out of that woodsy spot. Zoom.

Still using my wrong hand. Good thing is that I don’t think I have to – aches and pains seem to have responded to kid glove treatment and coddling. Another good thing is that I wanted to wrong-hand-it and the proper hand complied and didn’t forget and attempt to take over its traditional duty. I’m trying to work out some ideas and since I have three important forms to fill out and stick in envelopes, one of which is a traffic ticket (I got caught on a traffic cam!!), I decided it was Urgent that I draw this Right Now.

Photo

So that’s what I did even though I don’t need to have an idea until next month. Funny how that works.

(ArtRage app, Pogo Sketch stylus)(and don’t worry about the colors – it will all work out in the real world)

There’s a teeny fruit fly dive bombing iPat’s screen. It took me awhile to realize it wasn’t one of my floaters. –
I decided to see if I could be wrong handed out in the real world. They left before I could figure out his legs.

I went to my volunteer gig today and things were really popping causing me to use up my regular hand with heavy duty data entry. I stopped by the Apple store while I was doing my rainy day mall walk and Fondled the iPad Mini. Hmm. Nice. –

Still drawing Wrong Handed – I’m saving it for work tomorrow but I think it is benefitting from letting the other side take on some of the load because it is feeling better. –ArtRage, Pages apps; Pogo Sketch Stylus–

I was just going to let it melt because, due to my gas frugality, I wasn’t going anywhere. Still, all that snow just feels like another way to be trapped, and I was nagging myself to go out and just take care of it. Knock, Knock, Knock. “Lady, want us to shovel the snow?”

Photo

New York is starting odd-even gas days finally. Does that mean it will suddenly be available for me tomorrow? Stay tuned.

–*Now, a curious thing, when I draw with my wrong hand, as I did today, why does it automatically miraculously fit on the page with no fiddling or erasing required? ?This doesn’t happen with the proper hand. ?Strange Brain Things seem to be going on.–*ArtRage app; Pogo Sketch stylus

The nor’easter is howling outside. There is Snow! Phooey. Woof was right – this sucks. TV is turned up LOUD so I don’t hear the thumps I’ve never heard before. I think the TV guy just said that the winds aren’t as high as expected. Could have fooled me.

I decided to pay some attention to these two, again using my non-dominant hand. It’s an interesting experience doing this. I’m sure all sorts of strange things are happening inside my head – I hope some of it is brain exercise. I really should investigate.

Speaking of exercise and lack-of-gas stir-craziness: I put the pedometer in my pocket and then walked round and round and round the fireplace that separates the kitchen and living room until I reached one mile. I broke it up into three increments. Yes. I got dizzy.
